Sunday Stitch School No. 175 Long Tailed Lazy Daisy Flower

This pretty stitch will be used often. I have used perle 12 for the petals and perle 8 for the yellow centers. Apologies for the fuzzy photo – the sun hasn’t shone today, so no nice shot.
The circle size can be made to suit the Needleworker. The centre one is 1 1/4″ across from petal tip to tip.

Uhmm, they are supposed to be aligned in 5 equal spaces. I don’t think the Teacher will put me in a corner.

You can find the lesson, as usual, on Queenie’s stitch list

Responses

  1. It’s a lovely stitch Maureen.

    • Hi Barbara – Once the lines are drawn it’s so easy to complete. I hope you try it sometime.

  2. I really like this stich and plan to use it in one of my current projects. Your samples look great!

    • Thank you Pamela. Queenie comes up with some delightful stitches. I hope to see your samples soon.

  3. I mean STITCH – sorry for the spelling of my previous comment!

    • Not a problem Pamela…it happens to me also. :-)))

  4. Very nicely done. I would be tempted to make more petals.
    Diane

    • Thanks Diane. I think a full bloom would also be great.

  5. I like this one too. And as for being evenly spaced – even flowers in nature aren’t always even!

    • I definitely believe in that MA. :-))))

  6. No teacher of freeform embroidery has the right to put anyone in the corner. A student who makes such beautiful flowers as these, should instead be given a golden star!

  7. I’m pleased you like them Teacher :-)) It’s true many things in life are ‘not quite right’ but still have some beauty if you look.

  8. A beauty of a stitch, and great colors used. Thanks for the hint about different thread sizes, too.

    • Thank you, Susan. Using threads for such small SSS samples means I am using up short lengths and that’s a bonus.
