Sunday Stitch School- No.89 Chequered Chain Band

This stitch is easy to do once the instructions are read a followed.  I like the appearance on both Aida and plain fabric.  I used perle 8 threads here.

This heart is on a CQ piece with other SSS stitches. The heart is made with Perle 8 threads and the inner ring with the light green perle — the chains  each with 3 strands of DMC in two colours.

The only thing I’d do next time is to make slightly wider bars to work over- or a deeper shade.

Queenie’s instructions for the stitch can be found here

    • Thank you Diane. I liked the soft tones. I hope your Valentines Day is a happy one too.

  2. The perfect shape for St Valentine’s Day!
Your stitches are so neat and you have proven one instruction book wrong – it said this chained band could not be worked in a curve. Ha! Yours is beautiful.

    • LOL. I hadn’t read that instruction. It was easy curving it. Thank you for liking it.

  3. I’ve done this stitch before and it is a fun one. I like that you went ahead and created the heart and didn’t know that the instructions said it couldn’t be done. You proved them wrong!

    • Thanks MaryAnne. Nobody told me it was meant only to straight stitch. grin…
