A Year’s Stitches

Here is where I am at today.  The water is now turned on.
Running stitch and  DMC Jewel Effects  metallic thread.

There is still more to do, especially re-doing the iris.  Too much handling has twisted the ribbon.

There will be greenery to the left but I’m unsure of how to treat the front right side.  suggestions are welcome  :-))          Sorry about the photo quality.

  1. It’s so very pretty Maureen and beautiful stitching 🙂 ×

    • Thanks Barbara. I’m happy you like it.

  2. The water in the fountain! Very nice. Are you planning to continue the stone outlines on the path? I think that kind of stone work would be lovely on the right – a rambling stone wall. Of course, a few bits of greenery could be tucked in between the stones, too.

    • Oh, thanks for the suggestion Diane. 🙂 I’d not thought of more stones. I like that and will play with it.

  3. Love what you’re creating, Maureen. I had the same idea as Diane, I think there’s another path at the front right that’s going to the other side of the house.

    • It’s great to have friends with really good ideas when I’m stuck. Thanks to you also, Annet. It may give a drop-down effect to the fountain area.

  4. So idyllic – I love it.

    • Thanks Anneliese for the lovely comment.

  5. It’s a perfect little fairy garden. A nice pile of rocks with a little stream wandering through? Or a fence and a dirt path? A dirt path and a bunny nibbling the grass?

    • Oh, more lovely ideas. Thanks Susan I’ll give your ideas some thought.

  6. What a charming ‘secret’ garden, a lovely retreat. Like dezertsuz I was thinking of a picket fence with flowers growing nearby. Then I read Diane and Annet’s suggestion of a path and think that would be great, too.

    • Thank you also Queenie for the ideas. It seems my friends are all like-minded, which makes it easy for me to get stitching.

  7. Gorgeous work as ever Maureen ! Maybe you can add a little dog or cat at the right front side ……

    • Thank you Wilma for the idea of a pet. I might be able to stitch a cat…a dog? not so sure about that.

  8. I had to embiggen the picture to make sure that little fellow wasn’t peeing in the pool!! As for the right side I’m with the others that suggested stones & bits of greenery – perhaps some teeny flowers growing at the base of the stones?

  9. So beautiful!

    • Thank you irislins 🙂
