Sunday Stitch School – Whipped Running stitch

Today I had fun quickly stitching this sample.  I was eager to reach the Sunday Stitch School to hand in my work.

Only three more alphabet letters to go.  X,Y and Z.  The tutorial for this stitch is here

Here I used  Edmar thick threads for the top line and also the base for the second row, which was whipped with a fine cotton.

Top row was stitched over 4, then 3 holes.  The lower row every 2 holes.

  1. It’s interesting to see how different the stitch is from one size to the other. Thanks for sharing!

    • I agree with you Susan. I doubt I’ve ever made something as quick and easy as this stitch.

  2. I love the footprints!
Yes, Chitra also noticed that with short Running Stitches they look straight, but when they are longer they begin to twist with the whipping stitch.
Thank you for taking part and handing in such good homework.

    • Thank you Teacher!
