A sketch a day – day 3

Aquarelle water-colour pencils.  Not only do I hope to improve my drawings during this year but also that I learn to mix colours properly.  It is hit and miss, currently.

  1. A good start – the red apple is shining and ready to be bitten into….

  2. Clever you Maureen 🙂 x

  3. I’m impressed and a little envious. Stick figures are my best effort. =)

  4. they look pretty accurate to me..very recognizable and the c lors are really good.

    • Thanks Ktj, I’m happy to have what looks like ‘light’ on the fruit and hope to do better with colours by the year’s end.

  5. Mixing colours can be very difficult to control. Let the colours ‘mix themselves’, especially when you use water colour or water colour pencils.

  6. Mixing colours? Definitely beyond me – I’d be happy if what I drew was even remotely recognizable, never mind colouring it!

  7. Queenie and Mary Anne, I guess that first I have to get the sketches looking okay, then concentrate on colour mixing. But I tend to leap ahead instead of step by step. I do find adding a bit of water is a great changer of appearance.
There are good videos online for this.
