WIP – Watercress -warts and all

Very little time to embroider lately but I finally completed the Watercress.

Though I’m quite happy with the end result things just didn’t go as simply as the earlier projects.

The 2 lower leaves were meant to be Needle-woven, I just could Not get the 3 DMC threads to lay nicely – they pushed against each other as I drew them through the fabric.  It wasn’t for lack of trying or patience on my part.   Slow and easy didn’t work.  I made just one Fly stitched leaf instead.

I’ve made lots of needle-woven leaves but always with the single strand cotton perle which worked well.

The stumpwork leaf is the top right one with the shadow.

On a happier note, I added an extra layer of white thread to the smaller flowers and am pleased with the result.

Next in line are the Chilli Peppers.

  1. I’ve just caught up with your blog, Maureen. So much eye candy! I so enjoy seeing your work. I still have no inspiration or motivation, despite loving your work. I’m blaming it on medication.

    • Thanks for popping in JoWynn, I hope the meds sort your problem soon, so you can get back to your own lovely work.

  2. Even with a few warts 😉 your work is beautiful and inspiring as usual!

    • Thanks for your kind words.

  3. WordPress wouldn’t accept my comment on the earlier post, and I’m signed in! We’ll hope it takes this one. Your finish is gorgeous! I really like that leaf. This is a much lovelier plant than I imagined when reading about watercress sandwiches, apparently served in all Regency drawing rooms – at least in romance novels – LOL

  4. Who can explain why we sometimes can not comment. I sometimes have bother too.
LOL I read watercress sandwiches were small and iightly filled BUT were meant to stave of hunger between meals.
