WIP- Pokeweed

Pokeweed

Pokeweed

Pokeweed

I lost the entire post by adding the word base to the first photo… WordPress didn’t like me editing it.

The first photo, obviously, is the base design .  It was done with Stem stitch and Chain stitch.

The finished plant was made with Basque stitch for the buds, small and large.  I used between 3 and 6 DMC threads for these buds.

The green berry was done with Satin stitch Thread-ring.

The flowers were done with Buttonhole stitch Thread-ring (which is very similar to Buttonhole Wheel Cup)……….. and French Knot centres.

  1. Love those in progress shots. So fun to see them burst into bloom – like time-lapse nature photography!

  2. Nimble fingers, that is what you have! This is good progress indeed, and the result is charming. I have never heard of Buttonhole stitch Thread Ring and will look it up to see. I learn so much from you, Maureen.

    • Queenie, The stitch can be found in Sharon’s Pintangle dictionary, under Raised Cup stitch

  3. Very pretty block! I like that stitch for the flowers. Are you using WordPress Visual? I never use that. Like all the template systems, it forces things in a way I don’t always want to go. =)

  4. Thanks Susan. I use only the normal WordPress

  5. I like this one too! Not sure that I’ve ever heard of pokeweed so must ‘do a google’ to find out more.

    • Mary Anne, I read up on Pokeweed and it sounds nasty to living things, including people. It looks pretty on cloth though.
