CQJP – December block

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAThis is my last block for the year in Crazy Quilt Journal Project. I used Sharon’s block No. 29 .

I’ve yet to make up my mind what will be done with the 12 blocks.  My original thought was to bind each block and use one per month as a calendar.

I don’t have enough wall space to hang too many CQ works.  One at a time would work.

It has been enjoyable  again, not just to make mine but to also follow other participants.

CQJP will run again next year, so if you are interested in joining, please visit

http://cqjp2015.blogspot.com.au/  for registration details.  Registering has begun and is open until the 20th December 2014

  1. Beautiful work!

  2. The calendar idea is wonderful. Beautiful work Maureen.

  3. Thank you Lin for the visit and comment.
Claire I decided to go for the calendar after all. Bought fabric today to frame each.

  4. Maureen, this last block is exquisite. I don’t remember seeing it with just the birds on it. Love your silk ribbon stitches and the vine with French knots. I can’t remember the name of the plant though I had one!

    • Were you referring to the vine? =Wisteria.

  5. These blocks have been such a joy to see! I just love the fence post, the tree and the birds in this one. Your work is beautiful!

    • Thank you very much Renee for the compliment. The fence post is a section of mohair wool, slightly spread.

  6. You have made another beautiful block. I can almost hear the baby birds crying out for food in their nest.
Good idea to turn it into a calendar.
By the way, I didn’t know it snowed in your corner of the world at this time of the year! :))

  7. Your block is beautiful. The detail of the worm to feed the little bird is something that only who likes birds can see . Very sensitive.

    • Thank you irislins

  8. Beautiful block. Love those cute birdies in the nest.your calendar idea is a smart one Maureen.

    • Thank you Anita. I have almost completed the set of calendar pages.
