CHIKAN EMBROIDERY

I’ve just brought my work up to date and am now ready for lesson 7.

I’m not happy with my straight or satin stitches.  I had undone them

several times and still can’t get them right.  The satin stitches are

at the top and the straight are the leaves on the vines.  Both stitch varieties

use 6 DMC strands.

  1. Maureen, this is quite gorgeous – but I thought it was on a blue cloth? Have I missed something?

    • Diane the cloth is actually a soft green but was laying over ecru calico while I photographed it. I guess the colour looks different. It was never blue.

  2. This is so gorgeous Maureen, it reminds me of Mountmellick work only your stitching is a little more delicate 🙂

    • Thank you Barbara. Up close you can see the stitching is Shadow-work, but from afar I agree it looks a little like Mountmellick.

  3. This is quite beautiful. You are always stretching to learn something new, which I find quite impressive.

  4. Gayle I am most often way behind new techniques and this is really no different. I’ve wanted to do Shadow-work for years and when Anita offered to run a SAL I jumped at the chance. Thank you for your comment. It is the design itself that makes it look delicate.

  5. It looks beautiful to me

    • Thank you Wendy.

  6. I like this very much, your work is very neat!

    • Thank you Ati.
