THE STITCH FILES -Herringbone and Buttonhole

These examples were done in TAST1 in 2007

I used 2 strands of yellow DMC and Ginnie Thompson Flowers in purple.  I used a holding straight stitch for the purple version and French knots.

Here I used hand dyed silk threads in lime and darker green and a fine wool in the palest shade of green.

Pistil stitches, 4mm silk ribbon roses and 2mm silk ribbon leaves completed the seam.

The top sample is new.  4  separated Detached buttonholes followed by 3  joined.

Up and Down buttonhole – I curved the one on the right.

The single buttonhole on left and right are Sharon’s version, the centre one I copied from Marion Scoular’s tutorial here.

Sorry my photo is not clear enough to distinguish the difference.

The white Cut-work  buttonhole and the tree are from TAST1  I used a white knitting cotton and a green perle 8.
