CQAW DYB -2 blocks

In a small International CQ group I am in, we are sending 6 x 6 inch blocks and choosing one to complete. It is called DYB or Doing Your Block.

The first one I finished was for Hideko  which had a roses themefor Hideko

Yesterday I completed my second block, which is for Helina

for Helina

This has a seascape theme and it’s partly 3 dimensional.  At the lower edge I used chiffon and though it looks flat here, it is slightly raised in rolls and embroidered at the edges of the rolls.  The fish are stitched down but trapped between the layers of chiffon.  Helina mentioned a storm, so I included a lightning strike and a little rain.

  1. Your usual fabulous work.
    Just beautiful.

  2. Ohhhh Maureen I love both blocks but there is something about the simplicity of the blue block that just draws me to it! What lovely work you do!!!

  3. Amazing blocks! I love the edge of the chiffon where it looks like stormy waves being cast up.

    • I remember having a mental block when I began Helinä’s block but that changed when I found the right lace for the wave. Everything fell together then.
