TAST Week 36 Cable-chain Stitch

copy-of-p9060077.jpg

…………..

Here are my doodles for the week.  The pink partly-done flower uses DMC perle and the deeper pink infill is just some cotton thread about which I have no idea.  The variegated is also Perle thread and the zig-zag was easy to manage.

With the green thread I took short and long  bites to see what would happen and also, instead of putting the needle back into the original hole I took it a little way past this point.

I wondered if the ‘magic chain’ method would work here and it does but I felt I needed to keep using the same thread for the bar or it became a bit messy.  To me, hardly worth the effort.
The xmas tree has a detached stitch tub in tapestry wool and apart from the straight trunk also has detached stitches for the branches.  Same wool type. The frame is in a very heavy tapestry wool.
The 4 straight rows are fine pink DMC tapestry wool, a’broder red thread and Edmar boucle.  The closest row to the red is done in Cable-chain and the last is just chain.  I wanted to see what the difference was and I would only do ordinary chain (which was neater-of course it was not my fault) with this  should I use the boucle again.

Enter the Dragon..

I planned on doing scales for this fellow using my zig-zag sample but when I  did straight rows using variegated Caron, the appearance to me was just as effective and in reality looks like scales.    The blue body parts are Very closely made and ended by looking like boucle.  Again I changed my mind as I intended  doing the back scales in the Cable-chain but found a thread that suited better.  This thread?? looked like floss but is more like suede.  I had just enough to do straight stitches.
